National Parks Font

Thanks to the generosity of the U.S. National Parks Service, WV, Avenza Software Marketing Inc. was provided with an Adobe Illustrator file (PrksStandard) containing the symbols and pictographs that are used in the creation of National Parks Service maps.

A Parks Font was created from the original Adobe Illustrator file.

  • Macintosh: ParksReg (Postscript Type 1)
  • Windows: PARKRG_.TTF (TrueType)

These are standard computer fonts. Please refer to your computer System Install Guide for proper font use. Using this font set, will help encourage the development and implementation of a Cartographic Standard for park symbology.

The Parks Font set was created and is owned by Avenza Software Marketing Inc. It may be freely used in map creations, but not resold or distributed in any way without a licensing agreement with Avenza Software Marketing Inc.

Where needed the files have been compressed with a ZIP utility, for efficiency. Windows users can use WinZip or PKZip to uncompress these files. Mac users can use ZipIt or Aladdin Stuffit Expander with Enhancer. When using Stuffit you must make sure to indicate the files are zipped or corruption may occur.
