Step 4: Export the map to Flash

  1. In the MAP Web Author panel, click the All Web Art button to select all the web art in your map. Web art are objects that you assinged Web tags to.

    Note: make sure that layers with Web art are not locked or invisible.

  2. Click the Export to Flash button to open the Web Export Dialog dialog box.

  3. In the Export Folder text box, click the Browse button and find the working directory (MAPWebAuthor_Tutorial folder). Click New Folder to create a new folder called FlashMAP.

  4. Select the FlashMAP folder and click OK to close the browser window.

  5. Click the check box Enable Layer Visibility Toggle and select Built-in (Flash data-grid) from the drop-down list. These options enable a small layer control on the map where layers can be turned on and off.

  6. In the Layers list, click the check box to enable the following layers:

    • Major city names
    • Major cities
    • Canada province

    These are the layers that can be toggled by the layer control.

  7. Click OK to export as a Flash map.

    The Web Export Log dialog box opens. In order to view the Flash map with an Internet browser, the folder permissions need to be set to the FlashMAP folder.

  8. Right-click the blue highlighted path for the export folder and click Copy Link Location.

  9. Click the Set Folder Permissions button. If a warning message appears, read it and click OK to close it.

  10. The Flash Player Help - Global Security Settings panel from Adobe Systems is opened in an Internet browser.

  11. Click the Edit locations drop-down list and select Add Location.

  12. Paste the copied folder location from Step 8 (or click on the Browse for folder button and navigate to the folder you selected when exporting your map as a Flash document).

  13. Click Confirm to complete the setting Flash folder permissions.
