As we have all seen over the last decade, the distribution and consumption of music, videos and books has moved to a digital model and so, the question then becomes, why not maps? Similarly to the aforementioned media types, maps are also very conducive to both the distribution and use in a digital and mobile way. As we see organizations like Borders, Blockbuster and Kodak succumb to this digital revolution, we map-makers must adapt or suffer a similar fate.

Toronto, ON, January 23, 2012 - Avenza Systems Inc., producers of MAPublisher® cartographic software for Adobe Illustrator® and PDF Maps for Apple iOS, is pleased to announce the release of Geographic Imager 3.4 for Adobe Photoshop. This release is fully compatible with Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, which is also known as Adobe Photoshop 12.1 in Adobe CS5.5, as well as Adobe Photoshop 12.0.4 in Adobe CS5.

On March 2nd, 2012 Red Geographics will organise a free information session on MAPublisher and FME. The recently introduced FME Auto plug-in for MAPublisher allows data to be transferred from FME to MAPublisher right away, removing the need for temporary files. The added benefit is that MAPublisher can now read all of the (vector) formats that FME offers.

This free information session, which will be in Dutch, will highlight the new options this plug-in offers for a cartographic workflow.
