MAPublisher 6.2 is the version of this powerful suite of plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator 10 which bridges the gap between Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and high-end graphic design for high quality creation, high resolution printing and electronic publishing of maps. Cartographic quality map production is now faster, easier and better. MAPublisher 6.2 combines the best features of GIS with the powerful design environments of Adobe Illustrator 10 to enable native GIS data files to be used as a base for cartographic production. No more scanning and tracing is necessary with MAPublisher 6. MAPublisher 6 is also compatible with Mac OS X.
MAPublisher 6 supports the import of the most widely used GIS data formats, including those from ESRI, MapInfo, MicroStation, AutoCAD and the USGS. All GIS data attributes and geographic parameters are maintained during import and are fully accessible and editable during the cartographic process.

- Support for Adobe Illustrator symbols and styles - MAPublisher now supports Adobe Illustrator symbols and styles and thus allows for the creation of multi-coloured point symbology.
- Drag-and-drop map layers between projections for automatic transformation - Quickly and easily apply and match projections between map layers.
- Drag-and-drop symbolization and styling with new MAP Stylesheets function - Easily apply map styles and symbology across layers and data sets by simple drag-and-drop.
- New “Simple Import” map data import option for quick and easy map data import - Quickly import data to fit a page using the new Simple Import function rather than through more complicated dialogs.
- Automatic projection transformation upon data import - Apply projection transformations immediately upon importation of map data.
- Support for many more local and international projections and co-ordinate systems - Projection support has been greatly expanded and better organized in this version of MAPublisher.
- Create and save custom co-ordinate systems - Create and save your own projection and co-ordinate system specifications for later use.

- Import support for AutoCAD DWG & DXF 2000, Arcinfo .gen, MapInfo .tab, MicroStation V8 and TIGER/Line files - These additional map data file formats are supported for import in MAPublisher 6. (Note: Complete DGN V8 and AutoCAD 2004 support is available on Windows only)
- Import support for Arcview shape .prj files - Arcview projection files (.prj) are now supported allowing MAPublisher to immediately recongize the projection of your incoming shapefile.
- Export support for AutoCAD DXF & DWG, ArcInfo .e00 & .gen, MapInfo .tab, and MicroStation DGN files - These additional map data file formats are supported for export in MAPublisher 6
- Automatic grain calculation and data simplification on import - Incoming data is now automatically simplified as necessary on import in order to overcome limits within Adobe Illustrator.
- Automated text placement can now be directed to a specific document layer - Automatically generate text labels and have them placed on a separate Illustrator layer.
- Join Points - Join points based on attribute values and generate a line string joining common points, and is ideal for GPS data.
- Scale and rotate points - The Edit Column filter has been modified to enable the scaling and rotation of point symbols based on a specified variable or by the contents of an attribute column. This filter will also allow text objects to be rotated.
