The only versions of MAPublisher that are compatible with Adobe Illustrator 8.x are MAPublisher 3.5 and 4.0.

In both cases however, Illustrator 8.0 must be updated to version 8.01 by downloading and installing the update (see sidebar for links). This update is required to operate MAPublisher 3.5 or 4.0 with Adobe Illustrator 8.0

Depending on which Avenza product you are using and on which platform, you will experience varied problems with Illustrator 8.0 but in any event, all users should patch their Illustrator 8.0 to 8.0.1.
