I’m fairly new to MP, but can’t find anything in the documentation. I want to choose all the point features on a particular block, and give them an attribute such as “Block 37.” I can create a “Block 37” polygon in order to do a spatial selection, or I can use Illustrator’s marquee selection tool. But how do I add the new attribute to only the selected records?

    Hello Dennis,

    Thank you for your post.

I believe the way to do what you are trying is to first create a new field in the Attribute table labeled Block37 or whatever you want to call it.

Then you want to use the Apply Expression tool on the MAP Attributes Panel: https://avenza.com/help/mapublisher/10.6/index.html?map-attributes-panel.htm
Labeled in a diagram on that page.

Select the field that you created “Block37”, and then input the expression that selects the objects that you want.

This link is to how the Apply Expression page works: https://avenza.com/help/mapublisher/10.6/index.html?apply-expression.htm
and this link is for the expression builder: https://avenza.com/help/mapublisher/10.6/index.html?expression-builder.htm

Let me know if that helps or if you have any problems.
