After a couple of years I’m reacquainting myself with Avenza. Some time ago I brought in many maps that are now inaccessible ( I ‘DO’ have many others that are accessible). In ‘MY MAPS’, below the map title it says “Processing paused. Tap to restart”. When I do tap a message box shows “Error. File cannot be opened. it may be corrupt.”

Any suggestions as to how I can access these?
    TIA,
    Sam

    Hello Sam,

    Thank you for your post.

I was able to see that you have a Map Store account under your email. I see that you have a number of maps listed under your account. Are you having difficulty accessing your recent purchases or your older purchases?

What I suspect is happening is an authentication or communication issue. This can be caused by a number of different factors and can be hard to narrow down. Please try the following:
    – at the maps list (My Maps) delete all maps which have failed to download properly or seem “stuck”
    – ensure you have a strong/stable internet connection and sufficient storage space on your device
    – redownload the map onto the device

However, if that doesn’t work please try the following:
    – open up the Avenza Maps app
    – at the maps list (My Maps) delete all maps which have failed to download properly or seem “stuck”
    – tap on the bust icon (head&shoulders) at the top of the screen
    – if logged in, logout of your Avenza Maps Store account
    – force close the app and restart your device
    – ensure you have a strong/stable internet connection and sufficient storage space on your device
    – open up Avenza Maps
    – tap on the bust icon and log into your Avenza Maps Store account using your email
    – your maps should be available for download

The reason why you will need to restart is to refresh your login token. This is what authenticates your account and gives you the proper access to your account. On Apple devices, if there is a communication error, or the phone was restored from a backup without encryption or an iCloud backup, the login token will expire/time out. By restarting you are getting a new one and it will properly authenticate your account and give you access to your maps.

Additionally, when you are downloading please make sure that you don’t navigate away from the app, it won’t properly download if the app is in the background. Also, make sure that the screen doesn’t turn off or shut down the device. It won’t properly download either if the screen turns off while the app is trying to process the data.

Let me know if that fixes your issue, or if you are still experiencing issues.

    Regards,
    Xavier

    Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your post, if you followed those steps and you haven’t had any luck, you may be experiencing a different issue.

Do you have any unprocessed maps in any folders or in hidden locations? Please ensure that you don’t have any filters turned on so you are able to view all of the maps and folders.

If you have any unprocessed maps you need to delete those first and then try to download your maps. If you need help finding the filters let me know and let me know if you have any unprocessed maps/stuck.

    Hello Lucy,

Thank you for your post. I just have some questions so I can narrow down the issue.

    1. What device OS are you running? iOS 13 or Android 9, etc.
    2. What model is your device, i.e. iPhone 8 or Samsung Galaxy s9, etc.
    3. What version is your Avenza Maps app?

Let me know and once I have a better idea I will be able to advise, additionally, can you send a screenshot of your My Maps tab to support@avenza.com?

    Regards,

I had this problem on my iPhone. I solved it. There’s a little wifi like widget and you click on it and select “All items”, mine was set to “Active Maps”. Then you will see all your old maps and can individually click on them to redownload or delete.

See the red box I drew around the widget:
