Copy MAP Objects From is used to copy MAP Views (all of its layers are included), MAP Themes, MAP Locations and MAP Selections from a working document to another open document. This can be a useful tool when merging parts of several documents into a single document. For example, use it to copy a commonly used inset map.

Requirements

At least two Adobe Illustrator documents must be open to use Copy MAP Objects From. The active document does not need to contain any MAP View, but the second document must contain at least one MAP View.

Using Copy MAP Objects From

Click the Copy MAP Objects From button on the MAPublisher Toolbar or click Copy MAP Objects From in the MAP Views panel options menu.

copymapobjectsfrom_dialog

The Copy MAP Objects From dialog box shows all other documents currently open, along with all the MAP Views, MAP Themes and MAP Selections they may contain. Click the check boxes to select at least one MAP object to be copied from the source document and click OK to copy it to the active document.

To copy only a MAP View without MAP Layers, deselect the MAP Layers parent check box.

Individual MAP layers can be copied to the active document and will automatically copy over it's parent MAP View.

MAPublisher can detect if a matching MAP View is found and several options are available to set the Default matching MAP View action to:

Add to existing

If an existing MAP View in the destination document matches, the Matching MAP View Found dialog box will appear with the Add to option selected.

Make a copy

If an existing MAP View in the destination document matches, the Matching MAP View Found dialog box will appear with the Create unaltered copy of MAP View option selected.

Do not check

MAPublisher will not check if there is a matching MAP View and will simply copy the MAP View as an unaltered copy to the destination document.

information Copy MAP Objects From can also be accessed in the MAP Themes and MAP Selections panel options menus.

information When copying artwork from one document to another, only "global" swatches will be added to the Swatches panel in the new document. A global swatch stays connected to objects and can update them.
